What a lovely place! I recently stayed here with my brother and sisters for my nephew's wedding. We couldn't have chosen a better place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Pat, the Innkeeper and cook. Such a lovely lady! She showed us around the house and explained some of the heritage. Interesting and fun. Our rooms were spacious with lots of light and a Keurig. Beds were very comfortable. Relaxing in the "sitting room" talking with my family felt cozy and welcoming. The decor is fascinating and fun to look at. Fresco on the ceiling in the main foyer is stunning. Breakfast was incredible! Pat is a fabulous cook and prepared such a variety. Eggs with cheese, fruit, biscuits and gravy, banana bread, jams, bacon, sausage, and more. We weren't hungry for the rest of the day. Everything was displayed with care and pomp. Her presentation made us feel like royalty, but her conversation made us feel like family. The wedding took place here as well. Excellent choice by my nephew and his fiancé. The grounds are rich with greenery and flowers. Large trees provide plenty of shade for guests and the wedding party during the ceremony. The resident swans are enjoyable to watch. There were two baby swans here during our stay which made for some interesting interactions. A tranquil environment that leaves a quietness to your soul. The large tented area provided lots of room. Plenty of tables and seating space, room for the band, a dance floor, and a bar. All decorated nicely and lit efficiently. The overflow seating on the lawn was surrounded by gardens and a fountain. Simply beautiful. The staff worked efficiently to assure every detail was taken care. They are quite experienced at pulling off these events. There were actually three different weddings here on the weekend we stayed. We never knew one had taken place the night before and there were no remnants of our event left for the wedding following ours. Expert, experienced staff. Overall, I was extremely happy with our stay and the wedding atmosphere. I would highly recommend The Virginia Cliffe Inn to anyone looking for that perfect place to stay or host an event. They do it so well. The only concerns I have are for people with limited mobility. There is no elevator, so you need to be able to climb stairs. All of the bedrooms but one are on the second floor. The beds are a little high. While there is a step stool to assist you if you need it, again it's not good for everyone. I'm 5'3" and used my knee to get into bed. My sister is 5'8" and she could sit down on it. Our bathroom was small. Having one person in at a time is fine. But some maneuverability is required. The inn is also close to a railroad track and the train does come by regularly. It didn't bother us much, but I'm sure some people would notice it. Overall, I highly recommend The Virginia Cliffe Inn. So many good things about. Lovely staff. Great food. Efficient event staff. Awe inspiring scenery. Rich in heritage and connection to nature. I hope I have the opportunity to visit here again. It is worth planning a trip to for no other reason than to just enjoy it. Thank you Judey and Pat for making our weekend so precious, worry-free, and unforgettable (in a good way).
